The Queen Emma Bridge is a 167-metre pontoon bridge connecting the historic districts of Punda and Otrobanda in Willemstad. As one of Curaçao’s most visited landmarks, the bridge demanded a timber that could withstand continuous foot traffic, salt air, and the harsh Caribbean climate — while meeting the aesthetic standard of a UNESCO World Heritage setting.
Plantation teak from our own operations in Panama was selected for the full deck surface. Teak’s natural oil content makes it uniquely suited to marine environments: it resists moisture absorption, does not warp under UV exposure, and maintains a stable surface underfoot even in wet conditions.
Timber was supplied in custom dimensions to meet the structural requirements of the bridge deck, and delivered CIF to Willemstad. The project was completed in 2026.
